2 INJURED AFTER CAR CRASHES INTO HOME

Two Kansas women were injured when a drunk driver crashed into their house in Wichita on Dec. 18. According to police, a 33-year-old man missed a corner while he was driving and crashed into the home on Suncrest Court just before 10 p.m. The man's vehicle ended up inside of the home's living room.
Before the accident occurred, a 93-year-old woman had been sitting on a recliner while a 69-year-old woman sat on a couch. The drunk driver's car hit the eldest woman's recliner and pushed it 15 feet across the living room. Both of the women managed to survive the incident with only minor injuries. Property damage to the house was reported to be extensive.
After the crash, the driver was taken into custody for driving under the influence. Reports indicate that the man had a prior criminal record that included convictions for aggravated battery, aggravated assault, burglary and theft. He had previously served prison time for those charges and had only recently been released on parole.
An individual who has gone through a similar experience might be able to hold the at-fault driver accountable for their actions by filing a personal injury claim against them. Although a person may suffer only minor physical injuries, an accident like the one in this case could cause emotional distress. An attorney might help an injured plaintiff in this type of case pursue a claim for a fair amount of financial compensation. Reimbursement for property damage may also be pursued in a civil claim.
